My name is Sima Rahimi and I am an Iranian artist who has lived in Canada since 2001. Currently I work in Toronto, Ontario.
Ever since I was a child, I always looked for images in the clouds. My passion for painting started from that time. Over time I have developed my interests both in art and design.
As art was my favourite subject at school, I continued my education at the Behzad Art School in Tehran at the age of fifteen. After three years I earned a diploma in Fundamental Art. Various subjects such as drawing, decorative art, miniature and traditional art were covered, and we worked in a variety of mediums. Study of anatomy, folklore literature, art history, geometry and perspective completed
the curriculum.
I went on to earn a distinguished degree at the Construction and Design College in the Polytechnic University in Tehran. I chose to study interior architecture. Also included in the design program were calligraphy, Batik fabric printing and silkscreen printing.
I acquired experience reviewing children's picture books for a year at the children's literature branch of IBBY (International Board and Book for Young People). Then I volunteered my time for seven years at IBBY.
Subsequently I participated in a three month workshop to develop teaching techniques for working with children in art programs.
My first job was teaching painting to young children, five to eleven years old, at summer school art courses. I continued to teach private classes for children and adults both in Iran and now in Canada.
I also continued to refine my artistic skills. At Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson) University, I studied painting. I also finished the two year Interior Design course at Seneca College. As well, I have participated in various painting groups where I have shown my work.
After five years of artistic experience in Canada, I registered the idea of Art and Design Possibilities in 2006.
My current work includes painting postcards as well as drawing and painting in various mediums. I am now accepting commissions and the drawing and painting class courses with different materials and workshops.
